different miracle

The quiet waiting.....
It's hard.

We pray for a miracle,
and we truly believe that God will grant one if he wishes,
He, after all, delights in that.

The miracle doesn't appear to be what we want.
We are reminded how fragile life is,
It's all grace.
Whatever happens,
still we'll all say
Holy, Holy, Holy.
You're good.
We trust you.
Still asking for a miracle, though.
Healing, Lord. You can grant it. Your plan is better than mine.
I know that.
I trust you.

peace always

The Lord bless you and keep you;
 the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
Numbers 6:24-26

Praying that today.
Enjoy your day!

stopping by the woods on a snowy evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Christ and the woman taken in adultry, Guercino
Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?”  This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground.  And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.”  And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground.  But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him.  Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”  She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”

your love is a song- switchfoot

I hear you breathing in
Another day begins
The stars are falling out
My dreams are fading now, fading out

I've been keeping my eyes wide open
I've been keeping my eyes wide open

Ooh, your love is a symphony
All around me, running through me
Ooh, your love is a melody
Underneath me, running to me

Oh, your love is a song

The dawn is fire bright
Against the city lights
The clouds are glowing now
The moon is blacking out, is blacking out

So I've been keeping my mind wide open
I've been keeping my mind wide open, yeah

Ooh, your love is a symphony
All around me, running to me
Ooh, your love is a melody
Underneath me, and into me

Oh, your love is a song
Your love is a song
Oh, your love is a song
Your love is strong

With my eyes wide open
I've got my eyes wide open
I've been keeping my hopes unbroken
Yeah, yeah

Ooh, your love is a symphony
All around me, running through me
Ooh, your love is a melody
Underneath me, running to me

Your love is a song
Yeah, yeah
Your love is my remedy
Oh, your love is a song

Psalm 19:7-9

The revelation of God is whole
and pulls our lives together.
The signposts of God are clear
and point out the right road.
The life-maps of God are right,
showing the way to joy.
The directions of God are plain
and easy on the eyes.
God’s reputation is twenty-four-carat gold,
with a lifetime guarantee.
The decisions of God are accurate
down to the nth degree.

may you today....

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.

-Prayer of St. Therese of Lisieux

03 January 2013

grace upon grace

It's an amazing day out today,
but clear and sunny.
On my way home from chemistry
I could see three different mountain ranges.
And, the ocean.

It was lovely.

I am so enchanted by this earth.

I am so grateful for it.

Yes, it is very broken.
But it is also ever so lovely.
We are told everything He has made is good.
He said it.
It is good.

Sometimes, I get so caught in the broken
I miss the glorious perfection.

It seems like more and more is breaking,
falling apart,
and messy.

He's here, though.
Alive and well.
Granting us the grace of the thousands of gifts!

For from his fullness we have all received,
grace upon grace.
(John 1:16)

Grace upon grace.
It's only a matter of looking.

So maybe,
my goal for this year is to learn to look even harder for the gifts. To learn to lean hard into the broken in order to see Him. To learn to breath thanks into the dark.

And when He grants me an extravagant gift like the beauty of today?

Well, I'll smile, and breathe thanks into the frosty air.

this today....
