The more we believe that God hurts only to heal,
the less we can believe that there is any use in begging for tenderness. A
cruel man might be bribed...But suppose that what you are up against is a
surgeon whose intentions are wholly good. The kinder and more conscientious he
is, the more inexorably he will go on cutting. If he yielded to your
entreaties, if he stopped before the operation was complete, all the pain up to
that point would have been useless. But is it credible that such extremities of
torture should be necessary for us? Well, take your choice. The tortures occur.
If they are unnecessary, then there is no God or a bad one. If there is a good
God, then these tortures are necessary. For no even moderately good Being could
possibly inflict or permit them if they weren't. Either way, we're for it.
Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled. 1 Corinthians 13:8-10
So it's all going to end....
but not love.
God giving us words-
won't be needed, 'cause we'll be with Him.
Private words with the Spirit?
won't be needed, 'cause we'll be with Him.
Understanding?
We'll see it all.
We only know a tiny bit,
and what we say?
What we know?
It's so imperfect,
so incomplete.
It feels that way sometimes,
doesn't it?
Other times it feels like I can't even know more about Him,
His love,
because what I feel and see is so ridiculous that I can't comprehend it.
when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled.
And he said to them,
“Go your way.
Eat the fat and
drink sweet wine and
send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Yes?
Ever so much.
Ever hear the voices?
All the lies
that are louder than truth sometimes?
Read this,
and then post here
let someone else say
"me too"
and let it go.
Let Him show you that
they're just voices.
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 And when you're so weary you feel like a dead woman walking? When you want to drop it all, but you are oh so afraid to let go? I'm so there. Foolishness, I know, but I am stumbling, and I want to give it, and yet I am so afraid to release. We have to live our lives with hands held loose.
Father, Take it. Give me yours. Help me to really, truly, for real mean those words. I want the rest so badly. Love:) R
Bleeding thoughts Cracking boulder Don't fall over
Fake your laughter Burn the tear Sing it louder Twist and shout
Way up here We stand on shoulders Growing colder
Laugh or cry I won't mind Sing it louder Twist and shout
Immovable shadows The concrete girl They'll rock your world to nothing
And they're swimming around again, again And they're swimming around The concrete girl
Catch your breath like four-leaf clover Hand it over
Scream to no one Take your time Sing it louder Twist and shout
Nothing to run from is worse than something And all your fears of nothing
And they're swimming around again, again And they're swimming around The concrete girl
Concrete girl don't fall down In this broken world around you Concrete girl don't fall down Don't fall down my concrete girl Don't stop thinking Don't stop feeling now One step away from where we were And one step back to nothing
And we're standing on top of our hopes and fears And we're fighting for words now concrete girl And we're swimming around again, again And we're swimming around now Concrete girl
Concrete girl don't fall down in this broken world around you Concrete girl don't fall down Don't fall down my concrete girl
Concrete girl don't fall down in this concrete world around you Concrete girl don't fall down Don't break down my concrete girl
I had to post this after seeing this really cool video. Indeed. You are more than any of what you feel defines you, for you've been remade.
There's a girl in the corner With tear stains on her eyes From the places she's wandered And the shame she can't hide
She says, "How did I get here? I'm not who I once was. And I'm crippled by the fear That I've fallen too far to love"
But don't you know who you are, What's been done for you? Yeah don't you know who you are?
You are more than the choices that you've made, You are more than the sum of your past mistakes, You are more than the problems you create, You've been remade.
Well she tries to believe it That she's been given new life But she can't shake the feeling That it's not true tonight
She knows all the answers And she's rehearsed all the lines And so she'll try to do better But then she's too weak to try
But don't you know who you are?
You are more than the choices that you've made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes, You are more than the problems you create. You've been remade.
You are more than the choices that you've made, You are more than the sum of your past mistakes, You are more than the problems you create, You've been remade.
'Cause this is not about what you've done, But what's been done for you. This is not about where you've been, But where your brokenness brings you to
This is not about what you feel, But what He felt to forgive you, And what He felt to make you loved.
You are more than the choices that you've made, You are more than the sum of your past mistakes, You are more than the problems you create, You've been remade.
You are more than the choices that you've made, You are more than the sum of your past mistakes, You are more than the problems you create, You've been remade.
You've been remade You've been remade. You've been remade. You've been remade.
Peace comes and goes,
alternating bits of
grief
and
joy.
We swim hard,
and I laugh hard,
and for a couple hours
my world of water and burning muscles and laughter is all I know.
It's a welcome gift. Thanks be to God.
Later we gather around the table,
family,
and we eat curry- bright with peppers and spices,
brilliant yellow over pale brown rice.
It's spicy and daring and joyful-
happy food.
Not so much because we are happy,
but because we know that there is still
joy.
Still goodness. Thanks be to God.
There is that hope, that joy;
she's free.
Free of earthly chains,
of broken body,
prison of a shell.
We know this-
all is made right,
broken is healed,
pain is gone,
beauty rises in the ashes. Thanks be to God.
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze Isaiah 43:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin. Hebrews 12:1-3
Today?
Don't give up. Remember the ones who have gone before. Fix your gaze on Jesus, and you know what you'll realize?
